Many of the world’s problems, including poverty, poor health, and ignorance are correctable. In Reclaiming Our Democracy, Sam Daley-Harris shows us how to take action to eliminate these problems. And he provides a road map for global involvement in planning a better future.
President Jimmy Carter

[T]his book … is about uncovering and then lighting up the unquenchable desire in each of us to make a difference in the world. It is about providing a powerful structure of support so that our courage is what drives us, not our fear. That is why this 20th-anniversary edition of Reclaiming Our Democracy is so critically important.

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus

The story behind RESULTS … has as much power today in the climate fight and the remarkable work of the Citizens Climate Lobby as it did 25 years ago when RESULTS started empowering citizens to make a big difference on seemingly intractable problems like hunger and child mortality.
Jeff Nesbitt, CEO, Climate Nexus

Most people see working to end global poverty and ensure a stable climate as a fool’s errand. Add to that the Citizens United decision and the flood of money rushing into politics and the despair grows deeper. But activist and author Sam Daley-Harris has helped thousands of ordinary citizens transform from hopeless bystanders to powerful advocates. Reclaiming Our Democracy is the story of the organizations that Daley-Harris has founded or coached. They have been leading change-makers in three global movements: microfinance, which provides small loans for the poor around the world; child survival, which is saving millions of lives from malnutrition and disease; and finally climate change. The organizations featured in this 20th-anniversary edition are committed to empowering individuals to express their personal and political power. “This book is about more than reclaiming our democracy,” says Share Our Strength founder and CEO Bill Shore, “it is about reclaiming the soul of citizenship.”
